T and T Leadership

Leadership Checks

A unit must make a Leadership check:

  • When it loses more than 25% of its starting strength to shooting (this is based on starting strength at top of turn)
  • When it loses an assault
  • When it suffers any casualties from a PINNING attack (The check happens after the unit’s attacks are completely resolved)
  • An OFFICER in the unit’s CHAIN OF COMMAND is killed within LoS (Potentially at all)
  • FEAR or any other USR or Spell or effect that specifically calls out making a Morale check

The first time a unit fails a leadership check, it receives a Pin marker.  While a unit has a Pin marker it is PINNED

While it is PINNED:

  • It receives a -1 penalty to all subsequent morale checks
  • Is not eligible to perform reactions
  • Is now PRONE
  • If the unit is pinned when it activates, it loses 1 action and immediately sheds the pin/stands up

If a unit that is PINNED is forced to make another morale check for any reason, if that check is failed the unit is now ROUTED instead of PINNED.

ROUTED Units:

As soon as they gain the ROUTED status:

  • If they have not activated, flip their activation card.  They are now considered activated
  • Immediately makes a ROUTED move
    • A routed move needs clear definition, but for know its a double move away from enemy models and towards the nearest table edge.  I’ll clean this up later

At the end of the turn all routed units will make another Morale check

  • If it is successful, the unit is marked as Pinned, instead of Routed
  • If it fails the unit retains its routed status, and its next activation must be used to continue its ROUTE move

Morale Test Modifiers (Applied in this order):

  • Friendly Officer within Command Range – Change the Leadership Characteristic of the unit to that of the Officer
  • Enemy units/rules that impose penalties
  • Pinned – (-1)
  • Routed – (-1)
  • Under 50% of Starting Strength (-1)
  • Last Man Standing (-2)

These penalties and bonuses are all cumulative, though it should be noted that a ROUTED unit loses its PINNED status, and no longer receives the PINNED penalty
