A Crusade is Upon Us

My 40k play group tends to be a pretty competitive-minded one. With most of us fairly high-ranked in our respective factions, and a good chunk of us in the 10-15% of players ranked on ITC. (I, myself, am 613 out of 12,171, putting right at the top 5%). I’m not saying this to brag, but instead point out that our games can get heated. Nobody likes to lose, and every single one of us can get a bit animated during games. If the last year has taught me anything, though, it has taught me that we need to remember that we started playing this game for fun.

So in an effort to recapture the fun, we’ve decided to start running a Crusade, a way to step away from the standard 2k matched play games that we play on a consistent basis. This is a godsend, as we tend to play almost every Friday, and every Friday is effectively a tournament in and of itself. I look forward to implementing things like the Tempest of War Cards, as well as some other variances. For me, the biggest thing is stat tracking. If I am playing something in which I can track stats, I will. And then I will constantly look at them and try to analyze how I can improve them. It is the way my weird ADD/PTSD-addled mind works.

If I don’t have those stats to track, my brain spends less time worrying about them, and it allows my brain to have more “fun”.

For this Crusade I plan on bringing my Boyz. I’ve not decided on a Kulture yet, especially since 10th is right around the corner, and I may just be losing my kulture bonus in a few weeks anyway, so there’s no rush. I plan to have a back-story, and try to take pictures of every match, and provide a fun narrative for all of us to enjoy! Thanks for reading!

Chris
